How to Iron-On Sequin Wing Patches

Adding a bit of sparkle to your outfit with sequin wing patches is a fun and easy way to express your style. Follow these steps to ensure your patches are securely attached and looking fabulous! ✨

What You'll Need

  • Sequin wing patch
  • Iron
  • Ironing board or a flat, heat-resistant surface
  • Pins
  • Garment or fabric you want to apply the patch to
  • Protective Sheet (if you are ironing from the top of the patch)

Instructions Overview

Before you begin, make sure to read through all the instructions to understand the process. This will help you avoid any mistakes and ensure the best results.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare Your Garment

Ensure your garment is clean and freshly laundered. Lay it flat on the ironing board.

2️⃣ Set Your Iron

Set your iron to the "COTTON" setting and preheat it for five minutes. Important: Ensure there is NO STEAM.

3️⃣ Pre-Iron the Area

Thoroughly iron the area of your garment where the patch will be placed to ensure a smooth surface.

4️⃣ Position the Patch

Place the sequin wing patch on your garment with the sequins facing up. Secure it in place using pins (if ironing from the reverse).

5️⃣ Iron from the Reverse / Front

Ideally, turn the garment over and iron from the reverse side only. Using a slow circular motion, press firmly for 30 seconds. This helps prevent damage to the sequins.

If you have a protective sheet, you can attempt to iron from the front. Place the protective sheet over the patch and iron with extra care to avoid damaging the sequins.

6️⃣ Let Cool and Check

Let the patch cool for one minute. If the edge of the patch can be lifted, repeat step 5.

7️⃣ Final Touch

For a more permanent fixture, consider stitching around the edges of the patch.

Aftercare

  • Hand wash with cold water only.
  • Avoid bleach or harsh detergents.
  • Never allow your iron to come into direct contact with the sequins, when ironing, press from the reverse and without steam.
